about

This track is a memorial to JJ La Rue, my wife of 18 years who died in 1998. An image from writer Ursula K. LeGuin inspired me during recording, that of a flute played at funerals which made no sound, only audible to the dead. The title "Arc En Ciel" refers to the French word for "rainbow" the fact that the principle loop in the song is a sample of an electric arc, and the arc of my viola bow. When Coti asked me why I wanted to lie on the floor and howl during the recording, I replied "Because it is the only logical thing to do."
